Le Digger is a 6x5 cluster pays slot: land five or more matching symbols in a blob and they pay, then dynamite and wins strip the grid's Layers toward Gold Reveals. Bets run $0.05 to $50. Here is how a spin, the Layers and all three bonuses actually work.

How Le Digger works in one paragraph

Le Digger is a 6x5 cluster-pays slot from Hacksaw Gaming, and you win by landing 5 or more connected matching symbols anywhere on the grid. The default RTP is 96.26% (1), volatility sits at medium (3/5), and the hit frequency is a high 36.40%, so roughly one spin in three pays something. Bets run from $0.05 to $50, and the ceiling is 15,000x your stake. You can practise all of it free in the demo before wagering a cent, and our in-depth Le Digger review covers how it all adds up.

The twist that carries the game is Layers: a three-tier grid you dig down through as clusters clear and Smokey the raccoon lobs dynamite. Reach the bottom layer and Golden Reveals unlock, and that's where the coins, multipliers and the real money live.

What happens on a single spin

Forget paylines. A win here is any group of 5 or more identical symbols touching horizontally or vertically, and bigger clusters pay more.

When a cluster pays, those symbols are removed from the grid. New symbols drop in from above to fill the gaps, and any fresh cluster the refill creates pays again in the same spin. That cascade loop keeps going until no new win lands, which is standard Hacksaw behaviour, though Le Digger bolts a second removal engine on top of it through dynamite. Because the grid is six reels wide with five rows, there is a lot of room for a middling drop to chain into two or three extra pays before it settles, and that is a big part of why the 36.40% hit rate feels generous in the demo sessions we ran.

Base-game symbol pays are small on their own. The money's feature-driven, and that's the single most important thing to understand before you set a bet.

The Layers mechanic

Layers is the headline feature and the reason the game is called Le Digger. The grid is stacked three tiers deep. Every winning cluster and every dynamite blast strips away the matched symbols and the layer sitting directly behind them, so you are literally digging downward as you play.

Get all the way to Layer 3 and Golden Reveals switch on. That's the payoff tier, and reaching it takes successive wins and dynamite removals rather than one lucky drop, so patience matters more here than in a flat cascade slot.

How you dig down

  • Winning clusters remove symbols and the layer behind them.
  • Dynamite blasts do the same, faster.
  • Layer 3 is the trigger for Golden Reveals.

Reading the Layers info screen

The game's own info panel spells out the dig: the grid runs three layers deep, and clearing symbols peels back the tier behind them. Reach Layer 3 and the Golden Reveals switch on, which is exactly what makes the bottom layer the tier worth digging for.

Dynamite and the Wild Dynamite

This is how you dig faster. On a given trigger Smokey throws between 1 and 5 dynamites onto the grid, and each one clears a 2x2 square, wiping symbols and cutting through the layer underneath.

The Wild Dynamite is the upgraded version. It substitutes for regular symbols to help complete clusters, but its real job is the blast radius: it clears a full 3x3 block instead of 2x2. More dynamite means more layers stripped per spin, and that's exactly why the two dynamite-heavy buys exist and why the hidden bonus guarantees five of them every spin.

You don't aim or place any of this. It's random, so there's nothing to time or skill through.

Dynamite and Wild Dynamite sizes

The info screen makes the blast radii clear: a regular Dynamite clears a 2x2 square, while a Wild Dynamite substitutes for symbols and clears a bigger 3x3 block. The larger the blast, the more layers you strip per spin.

Golden Reveals: the coin tiers

Once you hit Layer 3, special symbols appear: coins carrying cash values, Clover multipliers that boost them, and Collectors that sweep them up. The table below lists the coin and multiplier bands from the most detailed source we found. Treat the exact numbers as "up to" figures rather than a published paytable, because Hacksaw hasn't released the full spec.

Bronze coinaround 1x to 4x the bet
Silver coinup to 5x to 10x
Gold coinup to 20x to 50x
Diamond coinup to 100x to 500x
Green Clovermultiplies adjacent coins x2 to x20
Gold Clovermultiplies all coins on screen x2 to x20
Collectorsweeps all visible coin values on the grid

The math that gets you toward 15,000x is a screen full of coins, a Gold Clover multiplying every one of them, and a Collector cleaning the lot.

The coin tiers on screen

The Golden Reveals info screen lists the four coin tiers by colour: Bronze pays around 1x to 4x, Silver up to 5x to 10x, Gold up to 20x to 50x, and Diamond up to 100x to 500x the bet. Diamond is the tier the top wins are built on.

Clovers and the Collector

Two multiplier symbols and a sweep symbol finish the set. The Green Clover multiplies adjacent coins, the Gold Clover multiplies every coin on screen, and the Collector sweeps all visible coin values into one payout. Line those up together and the numbers climb fast.

The three free-spins bonuses

Le Digger has three free-spins rounds, and they're not just reskins of each other. Each runs 10 free spins but tunes a different dial, and the scatter count you land decides which one you get.

Tomb Service is the entry round at 3 scatters, with a Dynamite Collector that banks Wild Dynamites for an end-of-round payout. Dig It needs 4 scatters and adds a progressive Blast Bar that ratchets up the minimum coin tier as you go. Gold Digger is the epic tier at 5 scatters, and it's hidden, so you can't buy your way in. It hands you 5 guaranteed dynamites every spin and locks coins to Silver, Gold and Diamond only, which is why it is the round most likely to push near the ceiling.

Inside a Tomb Service round

Tomb Service is the 3-scatter entry round. When it starts, the game confirms your 10 free spins and the Dynamite Collector that banks Wild Dynamites for an end-of-round payout, the feature that sets this round apart from the other two.

Buy options and where they are banned

Four purchases exist, priced as a multiple of your stake. Gold Digger is deliberately absent from the menu, so the epic round stays something you earn.

BonusHunt FeatureSpins

3x the bet. Raises your odds of hitting a bonus rather than buying one outright.

Dynamighty FeatureSpins

75x. Guarantees 1 to 5 dynamites on the paid spins.

Tomb Service

80x. Buys straight into the 3-scatter round.

Dig It

250x. The priciest buy and the biggest gamble on this menu.

One catch you have to know: feature buys are prohibited in several regulated markets, including the UK, so availability varies by market and operator. The per-buy RTP sits close to the 96.26% base rather than above it, so a buy doesn't improve your long-run edge. We wouldn't chase the Dig It buy at 250x on a thin balance, and if your operator's running the reduced 86% model we can't recommend a buy at all.

The Bonus Buy menu

Where feature buys are allowed, the menu shows all four priced against your stake: BonusHunt FeatureSpins, Dynamighty FeatureSpins, Tomb Service at 80x and Dig It at 250x. Gold Digger is absent by design, so the epic round stays something you earn.

Symbols and the RTP context

The theme is a sun-baked desert dig site with a fossil-hunting angle, and the symbols follow it: Smokey the raccoon, a dinosaur skeleton, a lantern, binoculars, a backpack and a pith helmet lead the high-value set, while A, K, Q, J and 10 fill in as low symbols. It's cartoon art, and it's charming, but the paytable is where the game shows its hand.

Individual symbol wins are modest by design, because Le Digger front-loads its value into the Layers dig and the Golden Reveals rather than into the base clusters. That default 96.26% RTP is competitive for the studio, though it is also the number you should check first at any casino: operators can run reduced models around 94%, 92% and 86%, and that spread is the single biggest hidden variable in your session. Two casinos can host the identical game and pay back very differently, so the RTP printed in the paytable of the machine you are actually playing is the one that counts.

Where it falls short

Three things are worth flagging before you commit. The Layers system has a genuine learning curve, and while it rewards patience it can feel opaque on your first few sessions until the digging clicks. The 15,000x ceiling is fine, but it's modest for Hacksaw, whose bigger titles reach 20,000x and beyond, so chasers looking for a monster cap will find this one tame. And to regulars the "Le" series can feel iterative, because the Smokey wrapper sits on machinery you may recognise from earlier Le games.

The feature-buy bans and the possible 86% operator RTP round out the list. Neither is Hacksaw's fault, but both shape what you actually get.

Try it, then decide

Rules questions, answered

How many symbols make a win in Le Digger?

Five. A win is any cluster of 5 or more matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically, so there are no fixed paylines to track.

What triggers Gold Digger?

Landing 5 scatters. Gold Digger is the hidden epic round, and it cannot be bought, so 5 scatters in the base game is the only way in. It gives 5 guaranteed dynamites per spin with coins restricted to Silver, Gold and Diamond.

What do 3 and 4 scatters do?

Three scatters trigger Tomb Service, four trigger Dig It. Each awards 10 free spins, but Tomb Service adds a Dynamite Collector while Dig It adds a progressive Blast Bar.

Is there a bonus buy?

Yes, four of them: BonusHunt at 3x, Dynamighty at 75x, Tomb Service at 80x and Dig It at 250x. Gold Digger is not buyable, and feature buys are banned outright in some markets such as the UK.

How do I reach the Golden Reveals?

Dig down to Layer 3. Winning clusters and dynamite blasts strip the upper layers, and once you clear through to Layer 3 the Golden Reveals coins, Clovers and Collectors switch on.

Does more dynamite really help?

It does. Each regular dynamite clears a 2x2 square and a Wild Dynamite clears 3x3, and every blast digs a layer deeper, so a spin with more dynamites reaches the paying tier faster.
